We're entering a season full of abundance and growth. All of the letting go, creating and pure potentiality has led us to this very moment.
And today I've got a short story to share. My son who's almost 16 now (whoa) said something so simple and profound that I've got to share it with you. And it's something that I've noticed seems to come up a lot for and can even be engrained in an adult's mind.
I see it often as it shows up for my clients, and myself.
It's a gentle reminder that...are you ready...wait for it...
Here it is:
YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO. PERIOD.
This is what happened:
I'm in the process of converting our laundry room into my new office. In the meantime, I've had the urge to move my desk into our bedroom.
Now, in the world of high productivity and sleep issues this is a big no-no.
Studies have shown that having your "work" in your bedroom can negatively effect your sleep by becoming a mental disturbance. Basically, you can't relax when you try to cash in for the night.
Long story short, I moved my desk anyway. Now it's temporarily positioned right next to the laundry room and in the bedroom.
Yes, where I sleep.
After my son and I moved the desk, we sat down together and I said to him, "You know, it's really bad for me to have my desk in my room. Even though it's for a short time...."
And that's when he said:
"You know, you don't always have to do what other people say you should do."
So this brings me to my gentle reminder (or a kick it the butt if that's what you need) as we enter August 2017.
The next time you feel the urge to do something that you want to do... (of course I'm not saying jump off a bridge or hurt anyone else)
1. Take a minute, take a breath, and just decide.
2. THEN DO IT. If it moves you, gets you out of your own way, helps you grow, feels right and you just know deep down...
Knowing that you can always course correct later.
Okay -- here's an update on my desk/sleeping situation.
I've been sleeping very soundly, and my desk is now positioned in a place that feels good, with lots of light, with my grandfather's chair, more privacy and most importantly – I now have a door that I can close. And the new office space is in the works.
I'm so glad I listened within, and just did it.
So, what's next for you? The future You is NOW.
All the love,
